98 TIPS FOR ACHIEVING THE AMERICAN DREAM for new immigrants or other people starting with nothing edition by Elena Ledoux SelfHelp eBooks

This is a practical guide on how to succeed in today's American society for a person with very limited resources. It was written by an immigrant who moved to this country 15 years ago with nothing and was able to create a happy family, become an attorney, survives many misfortunes, own her dream home and investment properties, and travel the world.
The advice is basic but tried and true. Most immigrants have to start with nothing or very little. And many end up being successful in achieving their dreams. Because we usually know very little, we stumble along the way and have to learn on our mistakes. There is no guide on "how to survive and thrive in USA" but many people could benefit from tips on personal finances, dealing with legal system, maintaining health, navigating educational system, etc.
The book is intended primarily for the new immigrants. But it will also be useful for young Americans who were lucky enough to be born here. Because of the recent financial Armageddon, many young people have to start without any resources or assurances. In this respect, the tips will help them to achieve their dreams a little faster and better.

This is a great book for a new immigrant coming to the US - and that is the intended audience. Written by a woman from Uzbekistan, this book details what she has learned in her time in the United States. But it would also be a great book for young Americans starting out in adult life. My wife, an immigrant from Russia, has lived in the US for twenty years. It has taken her - and me, a US native - all of that time to learn these very lessons. If we had written such a book, it would contain almost the exact same information and advice. Fortunately we do not have to - Ms. LeDoux covers every topic well.Product details

98 TIPS FOR ACHIEVING THE AMERICAN DREAM for new immigrants or other people starting with nothing edition by Elena Ledoux SelfHelp eBooks Reviews
This book, in my opinion, is very helpful for new immigrants, informative, easy to read.
I found there many good advices.
Thanks a lot to the author!
Amazingly light and inspiring reading and even better life changing manual. The kind of book that you would want to keep on your desk or in your reader forever - to keep refreshing your mind with its insights. Great book, really loved it!
Great tips for newly immigrated, saves a lot of time of searching internet for "how-to-manage-life-in-USA". Special attention to valuable advice concerning personal finances and savings strategies. Comprises the most necessary aspects in a compact way and can be greatly used as every day reference. Truly recommended!
I enjoyed reading this book and highly recommend it as it is an easy and entertaining read with lots of useful information.
I particularly enjoyed parts about investments and ways to make smart purchases (house, car, cell phone etc).
I did not give it a five star because there are some redundant parts (how to dress well, look good, be attractive...) and several points that in my opinion are not directly related to the American dream, such as moving in with parents or homeschooling your children.
Being an immigrant myself, I couldn't wait to check out this book to see if it is a good as author's blog. I've lived in US for 4 years, and obviously did a lot of research prior to my re-location to know what to expect and be prepared. This book summarizes most of what I researched for on a high-level and is as good for people who just think about immigrating to US or starting 'from scratch' in their country, as well as to immigrants at any stage of their lives.
There is an advice for everyone well-educated and established people who are wondering how they invest their savings, and those considering what should their first job in US be, if they need to start earning money from day 1 and don't have any degree. My favorite quote from this book though is this one
"First, you will be shocked to discover that there is no "immigrant reception" program upon landing. Read this sentence again. Let it sink in. There is no group of cute kids in matching blue outfits playing musical instruments in the Arrivals. You do not get a lei, the keys to a small but sensible apartment in Queens, and a small monthly stipend to get you by until you get acclimated and start earning the big bucks. In fact, you get nothing at all. "
This is just so very true, as pretty much everything else in this book. Of course, you will make your own decision with regards to the number of kids you want to have and their schooling options, but its worth considering some aspects that author brings up.
Really nice book, I’m not an Immigrant but got quite a bit of good common sense information from this little book. Lots of tips and tricks for a better life!
Great reading not only for the new immigrant to the U.S., but for any kind of immigrants and anyone, who needs a kick in their butt.
Practical book with real advices that will help you to do the check-list to see if you are moving in the right direction in your life.
I'm a 1 year immigrant in the US myself (and this is my 3rd country), so I completely agree with everything written.
I gave 4 stars because sometimes author repeats herself, but besides that the book is written in clear and simple language that anyone can understand. I read it during my 3 rides on the subway in NYC.
Thank you Elena!
